The Taste of Enville Ales
A brief guide to the various ales produced by Enville brewery
ENVILLE ALE - O.G. 1045 ABV 4.5%
The award winning ale that is responsible for the company's
success today. A traditional beekeepers ale, pale yellow,
a fruity bitter with an initial sweetness progressing to a
complex dry hoppy taste based on an old nineteenth century
recipe.
Enville Ale is produced using 100% Maris Otter floor malted
barley and top fermenting ale yeast. It is processed through
an initial very rapid fermentation followed by a priming process
using selected honeys which are specially processed (patent
pending) and then allowed to secondary ferment before being
lagered (stored at cold temperature) for a precise period
of time. This process enables the brewery to produce conditioned
beer with a controlled yeast count in cask - the result is
a traditional cask conditioned beer in which the carbonation
has been carefully controlled.
DRAGONS DEN - ABV 4.5%
Medium coloured, perfectly balanced mid-strength ale offering a truly memorable English bitter taste and body. Perfect for slaying a monstrous thirst or simply celebrating St George’s Day in patriotic style. Dragons Den is the perfect alternative for those who prefer a drier taste.
LPA - LIGHT PALE ALE - ABV 4.0%
Magnificently crafted from the finest malt and Fuggles, LPA is a traditional ‘session’ bitter, dry, golden and with a mellow hoppy flavour, ideal for year round, copious quaffing.
ENVILLE WHITE - ABV 4.2%
This very pale straw coloured beer is brewed with 20% wheat,
has a gentle hop aroma and a dry finish. It makes a very enjoyable
and refreshing summer drink.
GINGER BEER - ABV 4.6%
Produced using root extract ginger this ingeniously created
ginger beer has a flavour which is not overpowering and is
very refreshing.
SIMPKISS - O.G. 1040 ABV 3.8%
A classic Midland name revived and returned to the bars of freehouses with a sense of history.
Relaunched in October 2006 Simpkiss was previously brewed by the Simpkiss Brewery in Brierley Hill. The brewery closed in 1985 but is much remembered by older drinkers in the West Midlands. It's a taste you won't forget!
GOTHIC ALE - ABV 5.2%
Named after Enville's unique sandstone Gothic church, this
is a black beer traditionally referred to as 'dinner ale',
derived from pale ale. Created using a specially produced
black malt and a selection of specialised sugars, the ingredients
combine with a strong roast malt taste to produce a memorable
stout-like beer with lurking hints of honey adding to the
roundness of the flavour.
PHOENIX INDIAN PALE ALE - ABV 4.8%
Brewed primarily for drinking through the summer months this
is a traditional Indian style beer brewed using the new Phoenix
variety of hop resulting in a very pale and sophisticated
beer. A classic flavour from classic ingredients.
OLD PORTER - ABV 4.5%
A traditional style Porter, dark in appearance and offering
a complex mix of roast malt and fruit flavours with a degree
of sweetness giving way to a dry finish.
CHAINMAKER MILD - ABV 3.6%
A classic style mild, dark and well balanced with a hop aroma
and underlying sweetness which, combined with the smooth malty
finish, makes it an excellent example of a traditional Black
Country mild.
NAILMAKER MILD - ABV 4.0%
With a more defined hop aroma and higher gravity than its
counterpart this mild enjoys a certain degree of sweetness
associated with traditional mild yet gives a drier finish.
CZECHMATE SAAZ - ABV 4.2%
Brewed using the single variety Saaz hop this is a light
and fruity beer with a dryness which confirms it as a classic
Czechoslovakian-style beer.
