THREE LIONS Scores A Thirst at World Cup Finals!
We just couldn't miss the chance of creating a special brew to help celebrate England's participation in the World Cup Finals in South Africa - and whether we win lose or draw (with or without Rio Ferdinand, Theo Walcott or David Beckham) we all know that when there's a good excuse for a party we will be first at the bar, won't we lads and lasses?!
Our Special Brew, which was named in a competition held a few weeks ago by Keith Box of Quarry Bank - who wins himself TWO GALLONS of an Enville brew of his choice - has been tasted at the recent Wolverhampton Beer Festival prior to our official launch at a special party and quiz night at The Red Lion in Bobbington on Wednesday 9th June from 6.30pm.
The evening kicked off with a photo call involving a 7 foot tall feature 'stuffed lion' with pub regulars, directors from Enville Brewery, Jeremy Shaw the landlord and members of his staff.
Plus, as well as lots of goodies and Enville ale there was also a Quiz Night starting a little later for teams of four.
World Cup Competition at The Red Lion
The Red Lion arranged a World Cup promotion a few weeks ago in preparation for the tournament. They sold 32 sealed envelopes which were pinned up over the bar and each one contained the name of one of the 32 competing countries and the purchaser signature across the back seal. A couple of weeks ago there was a champagne envelope opening afternoon which revealed each purchasers 'adopted team'. Envelope purchasers got the proper replica shirt of their adopted country and entry into a £1000 Prize Draw. If you wear your shirt when your adopted country are playing you also get a free drink and further drinks at 'happy hour' prices. Sounds like the Red Lion is THE place to be for the World Cup Finals - whoever you support!
