The Old Gate is renowned for its good food and warm hospitality, it's blazing fires and its old worlde atmosphere.
It's recent history shows that it has benefited from various accolades and awards for its fine fare and excellent cellar management under the ownership of Jamie and Diane Atkins who have been in residence since 1988. You can expect a warm and professional reception from Manager Nic Hawkes who will ensure your needs are met in a convivial atmosphere.
The aim has always been to provide a comfortable, homely feel to make you feel at ease and to provide a first class selection of classic dishes, 'Lite BItes' and interesting chef's specials - Diane shares chef's duties with Heather Bray - and fresh fish is a firm favourite with regular visitors. Toddlers eat free with parents and there is an imaginative selection of children's meals too.

Of course whilst we pride ourselves on our wonderful selection of meals, we offer a well kept range of beers, ales and spirits, offering interesting speciality guest ales and an ever-growing selection of single malt whisky.
Our regular ales include: Enville Ale, Guinness, Carlsberg, Strongbow and Stella Artois as well as a regularly changing bitter such as Bombardier or Old Swan Entire and a premium ale, for example, Abbot Ale - something for every palate.
