Dating back to 1852 when the Foresters was first opened as a one room beerhouse, the history of this popular Stourbridge pub is well documented showing that of its twenty-six licensees to date, more than half have run the pub in the last twenty-five years. The current licensee, Philip Gardiner intends to be around for a fair few years judging by his plans for the place - Watch this space!
The atmosphere here is relaxed and convivial with a long 'L'-shaped bar area leading to a separate dining section where a good range of freshly cooked meals are available. Bar snacks and sandwiches complement the fine selection of traditional ales and spirits with a good range always available and of course a guest ale - Enville being the most requested and, more often than not, to be found on tap week in, week out.
Philip, a keen golfer, has established a Golf Society which has a large membership from the regular clientel - there is a display of golfing memorabilia too. Philip's wife, Sue, is equally involved in the management of The Foresters and the couple are keen to capitalise on the reputation that the unusually located pub - it's at the top of a wooded hill (a former turnpike between Stourbridge and Bridgnorth) - has gained in recent years. As its name suggests, it stands amidst trees, its grounds offering access to woodland where walkers can enjoy the countryside whilst being just a few minutes from the local shopping centre of Wollaston village. It is also the closest pub to the Stourbridge Rugby Football ground.
