The Crown & Anchor has been on the same site on the Enville Road as you leave Kinver since 1856 when coal dealer, John Lawley built three terraced houses and turned one into a brewhouse. It survived through a variety of landlords for over eighty years until M&B closed the brewery in 1942 when it bought a chain of ten pubs, ino which the Crown & Anchor had been absorbed by the Wheelwirght Brewery of Netherton.
Today the Crown & Anchor is a true Free House run by Ken Smith and Pat Richards who have managed to retain a 'real pub' atmosphere in the three separate areas of the pub; the bar, where big screen TV is available for sports fans, the lounge bar, where the atmosphere is a little more refined and the pool room where youngsters can enjoy themselves and have easy access to the garden area with it's children's play equipment.
Ken and Pat have a pub which runs like clockwork and delivers exactly what you'd expect of a traditional village pub to its local customers. Visitors to the popular Kinver Edge and surrounding countryside add to the popularity of the pub in the summer months and once found is never forgotten for a return for some of that easy going charm that seems to ooze from the very walls of the pub.

Enville Ale and John Smiths Bitter, Worthington Smoothflow and Guiness are always on tap, whilst lagers include Carling, Fosters, Kronenbourg and Becks. We also sell John Smith's Chestnut Mild and a range of guest ales - Enville Ginger being a local favourite. Last but not least, we offer three ciders:- Scrumpy Jack, Dry Blackthorn and Strongbow.
